It's political theater — literally.

For one night at the Town Hall, the Public Theater and the National Theater in London will stage a reading of the documentary play "All the President's Men? Scenes From the Senate Confirmation Hearings of President Trump's Cabinet." The production, at 8 p.m. on Thursday, comprises only verbatim testimony from Senate hearings.

"Sometimes the most powerful theater is reality, distilled," Oskar Eustis, the Public's artistic director, said in a statement. "This is a real-time portrait of the American government, and it is as riveting as the headlines and far, far more revelatory. It's like reading the news lit by lightning."

Among the cast members are celebrities like Alec Baldwin, who will play Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and Senator John Barrasso, Republican of Wyoming, and the Academy Award winner Ellen Burstyn, who has been cast as Senator Elizabeth Warren, Democrat of Massachusetts. David Remnick, editor of The New Yorker, will play Senator Al Franken, the Democrat from Minnesota.

The cabinet hearings used for the play are Mr. Tillerson's, as well as those to confirm the attorney general, Jeff Sessions (Nathan Osgood), the health secretary, Tom Price (David Costabile), and the Environmental Protection Agency director Scott Pruitt (Aasif Mandvi of "The Daily Show").

Other cast members include the poet and activist Staceyann Chi n, as Senator Mazie K. Hirono, Democrat of Hawaii; the Tony-nominated actor Raúl Esparza, as Senators Marco Rubio and Edward J. Markey; and the Tony winner Bill Irwin, as Senators Bob Corker and Charles E. Grassley.

The Public Theater said that all members of the House of Representatives, the Senate and President Trump's administration were told of the production, and that they were welcome to attend.
