Jets claim Austin Seferian-Jenkins after TE’s second DUI arrest

One team's trash is Gang Green's treasure.

The Jets claimed Austin Seferian-Jenkins off waivers Monday just three days after the tight end was cut by the Bucs following his second DUI arrest in three years.

According to ESPN, police pulled Seferian-Jenkins over at 3:42 a.m. Friday when he was seen driving recklessly at 20 miles per hour over the speed limit. He was arrested, charged and spent the morning in jail before posting $750 cash bail, ESPN reports. The Bucs waived him later that day.

In a dashcam video obtained by TMZ, Seferian-Jenkins appears to talk himself into the arrest after he was pulled over. Initially, a police officer told Seferian-Jenkins he would be let off "with a warning." But Seferian-Jenkins continued to talk to the police officer and was clearly slurring his words.

Seferian-Jenkins also told the officer he had to "take a huge s--t."

Seferian-Jenkins could be facing a league-mandated suspension of at least two games, per the NFL Policy and Program on Substances of Abuse.

"We are very disappointed in today's news," Bucs general manager Jason Licht said in a statement Friday. "After careful consideration, we felt this was the right decision at this time."

Seferian-Jenkins' other DUI arrest came in March of 2013 while he was in college at Washington. He pleaded guilty and served a day in jail. The Huskies football team suspended him for one game.

After parting ways with Jace Amaro before the season, the Jets could use some help at tight end, especially in the pass-catching department. No Gang Green tight end has a caught a pass through three weeks.

In 18 games with the Bucs over three seasons, Seferian-Jenkins has caught 45 passes for 603 yards and seven touchdowns.

The Jets waived linebacker Julian Stanford to make room on the roster for Seferian-Jenkins. …Jets DE Lawrence Thomas and WR Jalin Marshall, who are both nursing shoulder problems, underwent MRIs Monday to determine the extent of their injuries, Todd Bowles said. …Running back C.J. Spiller will work out for the Jets on Tuesday morning, according to a source.
